Kavango West defeat Kunene in netball match

MARIENTAL, 19 APR (NAMPA) – The Kavango West Under-19 netball team defeated the Kunene Region 15-11 in a closely contested match in The Namibian Newspaper Cup on Friday.
Kavango West dominated the opening exchanges and had the Kunene players chasing shadows, leading 6-0 in the first 10 minutes.
The girls from Kavango West stepped up the pressure and ended the first half leading 10-05.
Kunene applied pressure on Kavango West in the second half, but their wasteful shooting left them trailing 12-07 at some point.
Kavango West regrouped and applied more pressure on Kunene and came out 15-11 victors.
Johanne Lukuua of Kavango West was selected player of the match.
In another match played on Friday, Zambezi put in a dominant display against an out of sorts Oshikoto, but were let down by their wayward shooting in front of goal.
Zambezi led 6-4 at halftime and after the turnover dominated the match.
Player of the match and goal defender of Zambezi, Rachel Simunji kept out the threat from Oshikoto and made sure her team ran out 13-08 winners.
In other results of netball matches played Friday afternoon, Omaheke beat Oshikoto 23-06; Kavango West won 13-04 against Kavango East and //Kharas won 13-07 against Zambezi.
