RUNDU, 19 APR (NAMPA) – A 25-year-old man died on Friday in Rundu after he was shot in the left side of his chest.
Namibian Police Force acting crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Chief Inspector Melanie Mbuuru told Nampa on Friday the incident happened around 03h00 at a local club along Marcus Siwarongo Street.
“It is alleged that a fight broke out outside the club, which was prompted by a slight car accident, and resulted in someone from the crowd shooting and hitting the deceased and another one who is currently in hospital,” Mbuuru said.
The deceased was identified as Marcus Siwarongo and his next of kin are informed of his death.
Mbuuru said upon the arrival of the police at the scene, four people were found with pistols and they were all taken for questioning.
The bullet cartridges will also be sent for ballistic testing to determine which firearm or firearms were used that caused the death of the young man and the injury of the other person, she added.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
