WINDHOEK, 18 APR (NAMPA) – Namibia on Monday opened a processing office for visas in Lagos, Nigeria to increase the bilateral trade relationship between the two countries.
This was confirmed in a media statement by the Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Humphrey Geiseb who explained that the commissioning of the visa processing desk emanated from the launch of Air Namibia’s direct passenger and cargo flight service between Windhoek and Lagos in 2018.
“We provide a quantum leap for the bilateral trade relationship with Nigeria. We resolved to open a Namibian visa processing desk in Lagos in partnership with Air Namibia as over 60 per cent of travellers to Namibia reside in Lagos and surrounding states,” he said.
He noted that with the ongoing expansion of the port of Walvis Bay, the country is positioning itself as a gateway to the more than 240 million people in the broader Southern Africa market.
“Discerning Nigerians who love to relax and those willing to invest can take advantage of the many tourist attractions and investment opportunities that abound across the country,” he said.
Geiseb also noted that Namibia won the Readers Award 2019 as the world’s tourist destination.
