OTJIWARONGO, 17 APR (NAMPA) – The Otjozondjupa football and netball team members selected to participate in The Namibian Newspaper Cup tournaments in Mariental over the weekend made a courtesy visit to the Otjozondjupa Regional Council on Wednesday.
The teams were headed by football coach Robba Gurirab, who introduced the 51 players of both teams to Chairperson of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, Julius Neumbo.
Neumbo was accompanied by the constituency councillors of Okakarara and Grootfontein - Vetaruhe Kandorozu and Nelao Amagulu - at the regional council chambers.
Gurirab said the purpose of their visit was to say goodbye to the regional leaders as the players will travel to Mariental in the Hardap Region by bus on Thursday morning.
“Our football team is scheduled to play Erongo on Friday, while the netball team takes on the Khomas Region,” mentioned Gurirab.
Neumbo wished both teams well and urged them to attend the event in good spirit as regional representatives.
Otjozondjupa Governor Otto Ipinge was also present, and urged the netball and football teams to go there unitedly and demonstrate discipline at all times.
Ipinge said he, Neumbo and Otjiwarongo Mayor Bennes Haimbondi will also travel to Mariental to boost the morale of the region’s players.
