REHOBOTH, 17 APR (NAMPA) - The eighth Namibian Table Tennis Association Masters Cup was a success, the NTTA has said.
The Masters Cup, hosted in association with Wernhil Park and Broll Namibia, is a promotional event aimed at generating awareness of the sport.
A media release issued Wednesday by competition manager Heiko Fleidl said the event, which took place on 30 March, set high standards and drew many spectators.
As per the NTTA rules and regulations, the eight best-placed senior players of the previous season (2018), went head to head to determine the Masters Cup champion for 2019. The matches were played in a three game must-play system, with the winner determined by the highest number of games won.
Two-time Masters Cup champion and 2018s number one player, Rudi Saunderson managed to outclass all of his rivals, accumulating 17 out of a possible 21 championship points, while runner-up Fleidl of Wanderers Table Tennis Club was just one point behind the champion.
Wayne Green of Wanderers finished third overall with a total of 12 points, one point ahead of fourth-placed Delton Dreyer of Hochland Acers.
The fifth place went to Reese Saunderson and sixth to Ewan Orlam, while Zwandile Kooper was in seventh place and Ronaldo Vogel, eighth.
