WINDHOEK, 16 APR (NAMPA) – The Rally for Democracy and Progress Youth League (RDPYL) has suspended its secretary Marvin Janonga Veseevete for allegedly violating the youth league’s code of conduct, RDPYL spokesperson Vistoh Sabisa announced.
Veseevete was suspended during the RDPYL’s second central committee (CC) meeting which took place here on Saturday.
Addressing a media briefing on Tuesday, Sabisa said the suspension was done in accordance with RDPYL central committee article 24 (9) of the RDPYL constitution to pass a vote of no confidence in Veseevete, without explaining the exact charges.
The suspension, was also enforced after the youth league “exhausted all amicable measures within its scope, and encountered lack of action from the mother body following the recommendations it made, and inactiveness of the Discipline and Audit Commission of the party”.
The youth league then resolved to appoint George Liswaniso as the acting secretary.
Sabisa said their central committee opted to put the interest of the youth league at the forefront against all odds and is therefore going through internal processes in ensuring a smooth and correct path in restoring the hope of young people in the RDP leadership wing.
He further announced that the party will hold its convention later this year, without mentioning the exact date.
The convention will see the party electing candidates that will fill the top four positions which are the president, vice president, secretary general and deputy secretary general before the national elections.
The youth league at its meeting on Saturday also elected 10 new members of the CC, three national executive committee members of the RDPYL and 20 delegates to the RDP national convention.
