REHOBOTH, 16 APR (NAMPA) – The three suspects arrested for the alleged rape of three minor girls aged between 14 and 15 years in separate incidents in Aranos on Saturday, made their first appearance at the Aranos Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Ronaldo Kooper, 18, Jartin Davids, 27, and a 15-year-old boy who cannot be named as he is underage appeared before Assistant Magistrate McLean Urinavi and their cases were postponed to 20 May for them to apply for legal aid and for further police investigations.
It is alleged that a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the 15-year-old boy on Friday. The incident occurred in the Nuwerus area. The suspect is said to be a boy the girl met while they were socialising.
In the other case, Kooper is alleged to have raped a 15-year-old girl on the same night and in the same residential area. The victim is a Grade 6 learner at a local school.
In Aranos’s Saamstaan area on Saturday around 20h30, another 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Davids in an abandoned building. The suspect allegedly grabbed her while she was walking past and raped her. At some point, the girl managed to free herself by pushing him off and escaped.
All three accused were denied bail on grounds that investigations are in its initial stages and that it is not in the public interest.
They are detained at the Aranos Police Station holding cells.
