NDONGA LINENA, 15 APR (NAMPA) – With the electrification of Rumwemwe village by NamPower, six of the 22 main villages in the Ndonga Linena Constituency of Kavango East now have electricity.
“We are adding to the statistics as we how have six villages that are electrified out of 22,” Ndonga Linena constituency councillor Petrus Kavhura said at the official inauguration of the Kassian Shiyambi sub-station and electrification of Rumwemwe village by NamPower over the weekend.
He however said this means 16 villages still need electrification in the constituency.

The two villages - Shaya and Karukuta - approached the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (Nored) for quotations, which came to N.dollars 400 000 and N.dollars 500 000 respectively.
Residents of Shaya village managed to raise more than N.dollars 100 000, while residents of Karukuta raised more than N.dollars 90 000.
The councillor called on NamPower, Nored, as well as the Ministry of Mines and Energy to speed up the process for the villages that still need to be electrified.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy Kornelia Shilunga.
