Hardap announces regional and technical teams for Newspaper Cup

REHOBOTH, 12 APR (NAMPA) – The Hardap Region has selected a 20-man Under-20 team on Tuesday to compete in The Namibian Newspaper Cup in Mariental next week.
The competition starts on 19 April and ends 22 April and will see all 14 regions represented in what is Namibia’s biggest youth football and netball competition.
Trials were held in all eight constituencies for the selection of the players who will represent Hardap.
Hardap won the competition in 2006 against their fiercest rivals and then host, //Kharas. They finished as runners-up in The Newspaper Cup in 2004 and 2005 and finished third last year after beating pre-tournament favourites, Khomas 1-0 in the third place play-off.
Hardap team manager, Ivan Pieters on Thursday told Nampa the team is better set this time around.
“The team formation is good as we have a very experienced team that has all the attributes to go far in the competition. The team spirit is high and we are banking on our home support to be successful and win the cup on home soil,” Pieters said.
The players selected for the provisional team are Patrick Amutyakala, Genivo Brendell, Silvanus Dirkse, Oiwa Eixab, Elmar Gawachab, Johannes Hollombach, Chris Jacobs, Shane Jantze, Ngarizemo Kautembu, Johannes Kheibeb, Hamutenya Kudumo, Breyton Lamberth, Romaltino Lamperth, Armando Lukas, Marius Skrywer, Brendon Snyer, Sedney Swartbooi, Terrence Taseb, Nazhar Topnaar and Romario Umati.
Meanwhile, the regional technical team was also selected on Tuesday with Michael Situde as head of delegation, while Christy ||Guruseb got the nod for the head coach position assisted by Victor Klazen, Dumiza Jantze and Tangeni Isaac. Jackson Nanyemba and Matthias Rooinasie will be the goalkeeper coaches, with Foresta Misaona taking up the team medical officer position. Chamel Clark takes up the kit manager post.
