Police officer crashes into car dealership

RUNDU, 08 APR (NAMPA) – A police officer crashed into the stockyard of a car dealership at Rundu Sunday morning, damaging two new vehicles.
The head of the Namibian Police Force’s Traffic Unit for the Kavango East Region, Chief Inspector Johny Ndumba confirmed the accident on Monday.
Ndumba said the officer was driving a white Land Cruiser in a southern direction when he crashed into a Toyota pick-up while attempting to overtake around 02h30 Sunday morning.
He lost control of the vehicle, crashed into the dealership and rammed into two new vehicles parked in the stockyard.
A case of reckless and negligent driving has been registered.
“However, the matter is being investigated internally,” Ndumba said.
The police officer sustained minor injuries and received treatment in the Rundu State Hospital.
