RUNDU, 08 APR (NAMPA) – A trial awaiting prisoner escaped from the Ndiyona Police Station last Wednesday and was still on the run Monday.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for Kavango East, Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa the inmate was admitted to the Nyangana Catholic Hospital after he fainted last Monday.
On Wednesday around 22h00, he pretended to go to the bathroom and managed to escape despite being under police guard.
Kanyetu said the man jumped over the hospital’s fence. The police thereafter traced his footprints but he was nowhere to be found.
The man was arrested in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle.
