ENDOLA, 03 APR (NAMPA) – Heavy rain accompanied by strong wind and hail caused damage to infrastructure and slightly injured several learners of the Shituwa Secondary School at Endola settlement in the Ohangwena Region on Tuesday afternoon.
The learners were injured as a result of falling roof sheets.
A teacher at the school, Johannes Haihambo, told Nampa in an interview at the school on Wednesday that injured children were taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
The rain and strong winds left the roofs of two shacks blown off and trees uprooted, with some falling on top of the school buildings.
“The injuries the learners sustained were not severe and as such all of them could sit for their examinations this morning,” Haihambo noted.
The learners who spoke to Nampa said their clothes, bedding, books and personal national documents went under water and they were to collect some of their belongings blown away by the strong winds.
