ONGWEDIVA, 03 APR (NAMPA) – A 40-year-old man on Monday committed suicide at Ohaingu village in the Ohangwena Region after allegedly attacking his ex-partner with a panga.
Confirming the incident, Warrant Officer Kaume Iitumba of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa he attacked the woman at her homestead at Omatanda village.
“He slashed her on the head and all over the body before fleeing from the scene,” Iitumba said.
Police officers found him hanging in his bedroom hours later.
Iitumba said the man fled the scene after neighbours heard the victim screaming and rushed to her aid.
“The victim was taken to the Engela District Hospital, where she is now receiving medical attention,” he said.
The couple has two children.
