WINDHOEK, 01 APR (NAMPA) Senior womens national football team coach, Brian Isaacs, on Monday announced his 20-member squad that will take on Botswana on 05 and 09 April over a two-legged Olympics Games qualifier series.
The Brave Gladiators, as the team is affectionately known, will play Botswana in Gaborone on 05 April in the first leg of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games qualifiers, with the return leg slated for Windhoek four days later.
Speaking at the event that was held at the Namibia Football Association headquarters in the capital, Isaacs thanked the Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Erastus Uutoni for blessing the event with his presence.
We are thankful to see you here honorable minister as its always important to get the blessing of the parents before a big assignment, he said.
At the same occasion, the coach revealed that Spanish-based player Zenatha Coleman, who plays for Valencia, will be the teams new captain with Emma Naris as vice-captain.
Uutoni used the same platform to motivate the players as they embark on their Olympic Games qualification.
Go and play for your country. People should know about us. You should market your country when playing in these games, he said.
The Gladiators leave for Gaborone, Botswana on Tuesday.
