Dates Eleven win Swartmodder tourney at Keetmanshoop

KEETMANSHOOP, 01 APR (NAMPA) – Dates Eleven from Naute were declared the winners of the first-ever Swartmodder football tournament at the J Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop on Sunday.
Dates Eleven beat Mainstay 3-1 in the final match of the tournament, which started Friday and saw 23 teams competing.
Teams from the Hardap and //Kharas regions and the Northern Cape participated in the event.
Organiser Emrico Blaauw told Nampa earlier they decided to organise the tournament because the first and second divisions are inactive as no starting dates have been communicated yet.
They are hoping to make it an annual event.
The prizes totalled N.dollars 50 000 and were sponsored by Llewellyn Firefighting.
Dates Eleven walked away with N.dollars 25 000 in cash, 25 gold medals and a floating trophy.
Mainstay from the Northern Cape won N.dollars 15 000 and 25 silver medals for coming in second, while Try Again of Keetmanshoop and Black Arrow,s also from Keetmanshoop, walked away with N.dollars 5 000 each as semi-final losers.
