WINDHOEK, 28 MAR (NAMPA) The Namibia Rural Sport Development Federation (NRSDF) and Otjinene Expo All Stars football and netball knock-out competition starts in Windhoek on Friday.
NRSDF spokesperson Ngatuuane Hange told Nampa in an interview Thursday the tournament is aimed at developing sports in rural areas and is also endorsing the Otjinene Expo, which starts on 29 April 2019.
The competition will end Sunday and will see 12 football teams and 12 netball teams battling it out for N.dollars 42 000.
The football starts at 18h00 on Friday, with Okondjatu locking horns with Otjinene in the first game.
Epukiro will face Otjombinde in the second game of the evening and this will be followed by Opuuo against Ovitoto.
Aminius and Okavezemba will play the last game of the day.
On Saturday, games will start at 10h00 with Otjimbingwe locking horns with Okotjituuo and this will be followed by Sesfontein and Eiseb.
The netball games will start on Saturday at 10h00 with Otjombinde facing Okavezemba in the first game.
Eiseb will play Ovitoto in the second game, while Otjimbingwe is up against Aminuis in the third game.
This will be followed by an encounter between Okotjituuo and Otjinene.
Sesfontein will go up against Epukiro, followed by Opuwo and Okondjatu.
Hange added the finals for both football and netball are expected to end on Sunday.
The football category will get N. dollars 30 000 and netball N. dollars12 000, he said.
The winning football team will pocket N.dollars 14 000 and a trophy.
The runners-up will get N.dollars 8 000 and the semi-final losers, N.dollars 4 000.
The winner in the netball category will take home N. dollars 6 000, the runners-up N.dollars 3 000 and each semi-final loser, N.dollars 1 500.
