Alleged killer gets bail at Keetmanshoop

KEETMANSHOOP, 27 MAR (NAMPA) – A 35-year-old man accused of allegedly stabbing and killing another man here in September last year, was on Wednesday granted bail of N.dollars 2 000 in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court.
Quinton Scott appeared before Magistrate Philanda Christiaan, who postponed his case to 06 June 2019 for further police investigations.
Scott was granted bail on the condition that he does not interfere with police investigations or commit any offences. He also has to report to the Keetmanshoop Police Station every Monday between 07h00 and 16h00.
He was further instructed not to leave the district of Keetmanshoop without informing the investigating officer.
During his first court appearance on 28 September, the accused informed the court that he would apply for a legal aid lawyer and Stephen Coetzee was appointed to represent him.
The State was represented by Marlon Adams.
Scott allegedly stabbed the victim, Jean Louw, in the neck after an argument erupted between the two in the Krönlein residential area on 26 September 2018.
The 26-year-old Louw died in the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.
