WINDHOEK, 20 MAR (NAMPA) – The Corridor Turf Club (CTC) will be hosting the third edition of the Aminuis Horse Racing Independence Bash competition on Saturday.
The competition will take place at Corridor 13 in the Omaheke Region’s Aminuis Constituency.
The organiser of the event, Sae Mumbango told Nampa on Wednesday CTC has availed N.dollars 60 000 for the competition and attracted 78 horses that will compete in 17 sprints to celebrate the country’s independence.
“This is the first horse racing competition for the year and the horses have rested for long. We are known for hosting colourful events and the number of horses participating in this event is evidence of that,” Mumbango said.
The organiser added that seasonal horses like Tate-omukuendata, Von Throta, Eagle, Superior Number One, Saterdag, Gimme-The-Light, Stebbins and Shadaloo are amongst others that will feature in this year’s competition.
This year’s competition also attracted young horses like Celtic Rose and Market Marvel from the Mumbango family and Kautji Karamata.
“These horses are young and were recently introduced, they look promising. They are adding to the development of this sport,” Mumbango said.
Last year’s main races were won by Icon, Professor, Tate-omukuendata and Heart-flower.
Formed in 2016, CTC is aimed at promoting horse racing among Corridor inhabitants and sport in the Aminuis Constituency.
