KASU’s Independence Cup set for conclusion

WINDHOEK, 20 MAR (NAMPA) – The second round of the Katutura Sport Union’s (KASU) Independence Cup which kicked off last weekend will continue on Saturday at the Khomasdal Stadium in the capital.
The annual event started off with 20 football and 15 netball teams. Nine football and four netball teams will compete this time around.
According to the organiser of the competition, Kuveri Tjonga, the football will start at 11h00 with Otjombinde-based Rover United locking horns with Red Fire from Otumbonde.
Otjiuamapeta from Epukiro will face Okombomi-based Renamo Bucks in the first quarter final after duo qualified last weekend.
This will be followed by Epukiro-based Ovinjuru and Young Generation from Havana.
In another match, Windhoek-based Truck Team will play Ovihitua-based Dynamos.
Otjinene-based Okaumbangere will wait for the winner between Rovers United and Red Fire.
The first netball semi-final games on Sunday will see Orunarongue ladies from Otjinene go up against Havana-based Young Generation at 10h00.
KASU Eleven ladies and their counterpart from Truck Team will lock horns in the second semi-final.
Renamo Bucks and Truck Team are the current champions of the competition in the football and netball categories respectively.
