Man arrested after shooting at dog and owner

OSHAKATI, 18 MAR (NAMPA) – A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly injuring a woman while shooting at her dog at Ondangwa on Saturday.
Warrant officer Frieda Shikole of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the Oshana Region told Nampa on Monday 26-year-old Tulongeni Gabriel was sitting in front of her bar in the Uupopo residential area with the dog next to her when the incident occurred around 20h00.
The suspect reportedly said he did not like the dog before shooting and killing it.
“He mistakenly shot and injured the owner in the left leg while shooting at the dog,” Shikole said.
The identity of the suspect is being withheld as he is yet to appear in court.
Gabriel has been admitted to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital near Ondangwa in a stable condition.
Police investigations in the matter are ongoing.
