Advantage for Stars as BA, Tigers draw

WINDHOEK, 17 MAR (NAMPA) – African Stars beat Tura Magic by a solitary goal in the first semi-final first leg match of the 2018/19 Standard Bank Top 8 Cup in Walvis Bay on Saturday.
Stars’ goal was scored by striker Panduleni Nekundi in the 66th minute in match that took place at the Kuisebmond Stadium.
The semi-final matches are being played on a home and away basis, with Magic being the home team in the first leg and Stars having the home ground advantage in the return leg which is scheduled for 30 March at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
Nekundi’s goal gives his side a crucial away goal, meaning Magic now have to win the return leg by two clear goals to advance to the final.
If Magic wins the return leg by a 1-0 scoreline, the two teams will go for a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
Stars’ Ibrahim Youssouf was named Man of the Match.
In the other semi-final match at the same venue, Tigers were held to a goalless draw by Black Africa.
The two teams will play the return leg at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on 30 March, with BA enjoying home ground status.
Llewellyn Stanley of Tigers was named Man of the Match.

The winners of the trophy will take home N.dollars 500 000.
The losing semi-finalists will each receive N.dollars 125 00, while the losing finalist will get N.dollars 250 000.
