OTJIWARONGO, 15 MAR (NAMPA) - The 33-year-old man who died in the Okahandja State Hospital after he was run over near the Five Rand informal settlement early this month, has been identified as Evalistus Simbwa.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Friday the deceased was identified on Thursday by relatives.
Simbwa was run over on 05 March and was a resident of the Oshetu informal settlement at the garden town.
“It is alleged that Simbwa was mentally unstable. On the night of the accident, his body was found naked,” Mbeha said.
Preliminary police investigations indicated that a white pick-up which was driving from the northern to southern side of Okahandja, drove into him when he allegedly jumped into the road from the eastern side around 04h00.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
