Man arrested with 102 Mandrax tablets at Lϋderitz

KEETMANSHOOP, 15 MAR (NAMPA) – A 29-year-old man was on Thursday arrested with 102 Mandrax tablets valued at N.dollars 102 000 at Lϋderitz in the //Kharas Region.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for //Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Thursday that the suspect was arrested at around 12h45 at the coastal town by the members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU).
Mubebo said the parcel that contained the tablets was transported from Keetmanshoop to Lϋderitz through a courier service.
“Our DLEU followed the courier to Lϋderitz after they were suspicion of the parcel and when the parcel was presented to the owner by the courier driver is when the suspect was arrested,” he said.
Meanwhile police at Ariamsvlei found two big bags and a black plastic containing cannabis at a farm.
“The police officers acted on information of [an] informant and recovered two big bags weighting 50 kilo grams and a black refusal bag of cannabis that was hidden under a tree and bushes. The cannabis was found at farm Nakop situated between the Namibian and South African border,” Mubebo said.
Mubebo said no suspect has been arrested yet.
“The cannabis is not yet weighed [and has] thus not yet been evaluated in terms of the value,” he said.
Police investigations continue in both matters.
