KEETMANSHOOP, 14 MAR (NAMPA) - A 29-year-old man accused of murdering a 39-year-old man here in May last year, failed to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Benny Pieters was scheduled to make another appearance in court on Thursday, following an appearance on 31 January 2019 on charges of murder, where the matter was deferred.
His case was postponed to Thursday for Prosecutor General to decide or determine if investigations are fully completed and for the continuation of trial.
State Prosecutor, Marlon Adams, on Thursday called for a warrant of arrest to be issued with immediate effect for the accused.
Magistrate Mwilima Mwilima then issued the warrant of arrest, adding that the accused has until 01 April to report to court, after which his bail money will be forfeited to the State.
Pieters is represented by Legal Aid lawyer, Quinton Haoseb.
Pieters allegedly stabbed Moses Uapingathana in the chest with a knife at a shebeen in the TransNamib residential area on 12 May last year.
Uapingathana died on the spot.
