WINDHOEK, 07 MAR (NAMPA) – The Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) will conduct the ‘Namibia Welfare of Adolescent and Youth Survey’ (NAMWAYS) between 11 March and 20 May 2019.
A media statement by the NSA on Thursday said the survey will be conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, Ministry of Health and Social Services, I-TECH, UNICEF, and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Topics to be covered by the survey include health problems, experiences in school, access to food and goods, risk of HIV infection, experiences with medical and social services, and relationships with friends, family and community members.
“This survey aims to give the Namibian Government information to respond to health and social welfare issues among young people,” the statement noted.
It stated further that the findings will allow the country to better understand the situation of children and young people’s health and social welfare, and strengthen policies and programmes to improve health and wellness in Namibia.
“Enumerators will be seen throughout the country in specific areas to collect the information. They will be identifiable through their dress codes, vehicles, identification letters and ID cards. The nation is urged to support this initiative,” said the NSA.
