Five rape cases including two of minors and pensioner reported

WINDHOEK, 05 MAR (NAMPA) – A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old man at Karasburg in the //Kharas Region between 00h00 and 01h00 on Friday.
This is according to a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Monday.
In a similar case, a 16-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped by a 31-year-old man at Okatakamurungu in the Otjombinde Constituency around 20h00 on Saturday.
It is alleged that the suspect who is known in the community voluntarily escorted the girl home from her neighbour’s house. Halfway home, the suspect ordered the victim to undress herself and forced himself on her.
In another incident, a pensioner, 70, was overpowered by a 39-year-old man at Rundu in Kavango East around 21h00 last week Wednesday.
The victim who was under the influence of alcohol met the suspect on her way home, and he allegedly pushed her to the ground and raped her.
In the Omaheke Region, a 37-year-old woman who was under the influence of alcohol was raped by a 19-year-old boy after he gave her misleading information at the Epako residential area in Gobabis at about 20h00 on Saturday.
The suspect allegedly told the victim that her boyfriend was walking in front of them and when they reached the suspect’s house, he hit her with an unknown object against the head. After she lost consciousness he dragged her behind his house where he allegedly raped her.
Two visitors to the suspect’s house caught the boy in the act, the police said.
In the Hardap Region, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped at Aimablaagte in Mariental between 05h00 and 06h00 on Sunday.
The suspect allegedly forced himself onto the woman and raped her.
All suspects and the various rape matters were arrested and police investigations continue.
