Sixty arrested for drug possession in February

WINDHOEK, 04 MAR (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force arrested 60 people found in possession of illicit drugs in February.
A media statement issued by the NamPol Public Relations Division on Monday said the total value of the drugs seized was N.dollars 12 968 248, with cannabis topping the list.
Cannabis worth N.dollars 12 373 360 and cannabis plants worth N.dollars 30 070 were also confiscated.
They also seized 434 mandrax tablets worth N.dollars 520 800, crack cocaine worth N.dollars 22 300, cocaine powder worth N.dollars 17 500 and abortion tablets worth N.dollars 4 218.
Among those arrested were 56 Namibians, three Eswatini nationals and one Mozambican national.
The police said drugs are destructive, especially to the youth.
“The Namibian Police Force will not relent in their fight against the use, dealing and possession thereof and will apprehend offenders,” the statement said.
