Charcoal worker dies on B1 road

OTJIWARONGO, 03 MAR (NAMPA) – A charcoal worker at Farm Sukses outside Otjiwarongo was found dead on the B1 road Sunday morning after a hit-and-run incident.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa the deceased has been identified as Kamunwe Mbamuka, whose age is unknown.
Mbamuka’s body was found approximately 70 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo, near the farm.
It is suspected that he was run over between 19h00 Saturday and 07h00 on Sunday.
“We call on any person with information on this matter, or the driver themselves, to contact the nearest police station,” Mbeha said.
In a separate incident, 28-year-old Judika Kuhanga died Saturday morning while being transported to the capital from the Otjiwarongo State Hospital, where she was admitted after being run over.
Mbeha said Kuhanga was run over two kilometres west of Otjiwarongo, on the road to Outjo, Friday night.
“It is still not known where Kuhanga was coming from at the time of the accident,” she said.
Kuhanga’s relatives have been informed.
Police investigations in both matters continue.
