RUNDU, 27 FEB (NAMPA) – A 25-year-old woman drowned in the floodplains near the Kavango River at Mbambi village in the Kavango East Region on Monday.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for Kavango East, Deputy Commissioner Bonifasius Kanyetu told Nampa on Wednesday that Bernadine Konde Linkwanga drowned around 14h00.
Linkwanga had gone to the river to wash her clothes and fetch water when she suffered an epileptic attack.
“It made her lose consciousness and fall into the water,” said Kanyetu.
He added that Linkwanga had been carrying her one-year-old daughter on her back and members of the public found her lying in the water with her daughter on her back.
Her body was transported to the Andara Catholic Hospital mortuary and her next of kin, who took the unharmed infant, are informed of her death.
