Three men arrested for possession of illicit drugs at Rehoboth

REHOBOTH, 25 FEB (NAMPA) – Three men aged 23, 29 and 31, were on Friday arrested in Rehoboth for the possession of dependence producing drugs during a police operation.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Sunday that the arrests took place in Rehoboth’s Block B, E and F locations between 11h00 and 23h30.
In the first incident in Block E, NamPol officers confiscated drugs from a 31-year-old suspect, which included 25 full mandrax tablets, 3 half mandrax tablets, 1 quarter mandrax tablet, 7 full parcels of pure cannabis weighing 2 125 grams, 1 half parcel of pure cannabis weighing 130 grams and five skunk parcels.
“It is alleged that the suspect was arrested after a police search, with drugs to the value of N.dollars 26 000 and cash of N.dollars 1 210 confiscated from him,” Clay said
In the second incident, a 23-year-old man was arrested for possession of cannabis at about 23h00 at Erf 1123 Block.
Clay said NamPol officers confiscated 15 skunk parcels with total value of N.dollars 750 after a search was conducted at the suspect’s residence.
During the same police operation, NamPol officers also arrested a 29-year-old man for the alleged possession of two pieces of cannabis and dealing in dependence producing drugs. The arrest took place at the suspect’s residence at Block F at about 23h20 and the NamPol officers confiscated 31 skunk parcels and 1 full mandrax tablet with total value of N.dollars 1 670.
The three suspects, whose name are known but cannot be revealed pending court appearance, are scheduled to appear before the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Monday
