Police officer stabbed at Helao Nafidi

WINDHOEK, 20 FEB (NAMPA) – A police officer based at Oshikango is fighting for his life at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital after he was stabbed twice in the chest.
According to a Namibian Police Force crime bulletin issued Tuesday, Constable Desderius Ashiyana was stabbed without any prior argument or altercation between himself and the suspect.
The incident occurred at Helao Nafidi on Friday.
The suspect reportedly told Ashiyana “If I find you sitting here when I come back, you will see”, before attacking the police officer upon his return. He has been arrested and police investigations continue.
In another attempted murder case at Gcancu village in the Kavango East Region, a male suspect was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old man seven times with an okapi knife.
The victim, who has since been transferred to the Rundu State Hospital, has been identified as Karupu Girodolf.
It is not known what triggered the attack and police investigations continue.
In an unrelated matter, an inquest docket has been opened at Rehoboth following the death of 52-year-old Fresiano Hamunyela.
It is alleged that Hamunyela went out to a bar and upon her return was offered chicken prepared by a friend.
After consuming the chicken, Hamunyela reportedly complained of stomach ache and started vomiting. She however later retired to bed with a friend.
The friend discovered the next morning that Hamunyela had died and reported the matter to the police.
