REHOBOTH, 19 FEB (NAMPA) – A teenager arrested in September 2018 for the alleged rape and murder of a 57-year-old woman, made his fifth appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old boy, whose name cannot be revealed as he is a minor, appeared before Magistrate Kandinawapa Nangombe on counts of rape and murder; offences he allegedly committed on 30 September 2018.
His case was postponed to 18 March for his legal aid application to be finalised and for further police investigations.
Officers came across the deceased, Sarah Jagger’s severed foot when they responded to a call for help to put out a fire at a homestead at Farm |Aoxas.
The officers followed footprints from the burned homestead and later found the victim’s body nearby. They then allegedly followed footprints that led them to the accused.
Prosecutor Zibiho Munzenze appeared for the State in the matter.
The accused was denied bail due to the possibility of interference in police investigations and because the granting of bail is not in the public’s interest.
He is being detained at the Rehoboth Police Station’s holding cells.
