UNAM student stabbed to death by boyfriend

WINDHOEK, 18 FEB (NAMPA) – A third-year student, aged 22, of the University of Namibia's Hifikepunye Campus in Ongwediva died on the spot at home after she was allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend on Sunday.
Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the Oshana Region, Deputy Commissioner Hilja Haipumbu confirmed the incident to Nampa on Monday.
She said the 27-year-old suspect travelled from Windhoek to visit the deceased at the house located opposite the campus, where she resides and looks after for an aunt who is based in Swakopmund.
The incident took place at about 22h00 and the deceased was found dead with five stab wounds on her body.
“The suspect left the deceased at the house and handed himself over to the police the same night at about 23h00,” Haipumbu said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
