Otjiuamapeta and Truck Team win KASU Valentine’s Cup

WINDHOEK, 18 FEB (NAMPA) – Epukiro-based Otjiuamapeta and Windhoek-based Truck Team won the football and netball events of the Katutura Sport Union (KASU) Valentine’s tournament held between 09 and 17 February at the Khomasdal Stadium in the capital.
In the first netball semi-final, Truck Team ladies defeated their Okombomi-based counterparts, Renamo Bucks, 30-24 en route to winning the competition for the fourth time.
In the second semi-final, Golden Chicago from Okotjivango defeated Otungava by a 24-1 score line.
Truck Team ladies then retained KASU Valentine’s competition after they defeated Golden Chicago by 34-24 to take home N.dollars 5 000, a trophy and 12 gold medals.
Golden Chicago pocketed N.dollars 2 500, along with 12 silver medals as runners up, while Renamo Bucks and Otungava ladies each took home N.dollars 1 250 as losing semi-finalists.
In the football category, Onembenge defeated Okaumbangere on 5-4 penalties after a goalless draw in the first semi-final.
In the second semi-final, Otjiuamapeta locked horns with Renamo Bucks, with the former emerging 4-3 victors on penalties following a goalless draw.
Otjiuamapeta then won the final, defeating Onembenge by a 4-3 margin after a penalty shoot-out following another goalless match after normal time.
Otjiuamapeta pocketed N.dollars 10 000 and 20 gold medals as final winners while Onembenge took home N.dollars 5 000 and 20 silver medals as runners up.
Renamo Bucks and Okaumbangere from Otjinene each took home N.dollars 2 500 as the losing semi-finalists.
