Stars, Magic draw

WINDHOEK, 14 FEB (NAMPA) – African Stars played to a goalless draw with Tura Magic in the week 12 fixture of the 2018/19 MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) match played at Sam Nujoma Stadium Wednesday night.
Both teams wasted several chances as their strikers failed to capitalise on several chances created for them.
Magic’s striking pair of Theophilus Junius and David Omseb troubled the African Stars defence with their pace as they took turns to fluff their lines in front of Ratanda Mbazuvara.
Equally, Stars’ Rodger Katjiteo, Gustav Isaak and Godwin Jena failed to test the ever improving Mervin Kasetura, who pulled two great saves in either side of the half.
In the first half, Junius exposed the lack of pace in the African Stars defence when he received a through pass from Larry Horaeb, but his cross failed to find his partner Omseb.
Magic’s Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Doku then produced the pass of the night to release the speedy Omseb whose first touch failed him and allowed Mbazuvara to collect untroubled.
On the end of the field Isaak and Jena combined outside the box, with the latter firing just wide, leaving the score at nil-all going into halftime.
The second half was similar to the first as Stars substitute Ronald Katjijere started to dominate the midfield, but his passes were either underutilised or failed to find his teammates.
The match ended nil-all, with African Stars moving to third place on 19 points from 10 matches, while Magic now have 18 points from 12 games and are in fourth position.
The Namibia Premier League matches continue on Friday as log leaders Black Africa face Mighty Gunners at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
On Saturday, Julinho host Life Fighters in Rundu, while Okahandja United play Citizens in the Garden Town.
Young Brazilians welcome University of Namibia in Karasburg, while bottom of the log Orlando Pirates play African Stars at Sam Nujoma Stadium.
