WINDHOEK, 14 FEB (NAMPA) The second round of the N.dollars 30 000 KASU Valentines Cup which started last weekend will continue this Saturday at Khomasdal Stadium in the capital.
The competition is left with 10 football teams and four netball teams from 32 and 23 respectively. The final games are set for Sunday.
Football games will start at 09h00 with Aminius-based Super Stars locking horns with Okovimburu from Epukiro.
Among others, Inter Dee from Ovituua will face Otjinene-based Golden Chicago whereas Okaumbangere and Fine Young Stars, both also from Otjinene, will play the first quarter final of the competition.
In another match, Renamo Bucks from Okombomi will play Opuuo-based Okambari-kautjo.
The first netball semi-final will see the defending champion, Windhoek-based Truck Team up against Renamo Bucks ladies.
KASU chairperson Kuveri Tjonga told Nampa on Wednesday that the tournament, now in its fifth year, is aimed at celebrating the day and to promote sport in Katutura in general.
This is an annual competition and teams always come in big numbers to commemorate the Valentines Day in Katutura, he said.
N.dollars 10 000 is for the netball categories, while N.dollars 20 000 is for the soccer categories.
The netball winner will take home N.dollars 5 000, a trophy and 12 gold medals while the runners-up will walk away with N.dollars 2 500 plus 12 silver medals.
Each semi-final loser will take home N.dollars 1 250.
The winning team in soccer will pocket N.dollars 10 000, a trophy plus 20 gold medals.
The runners-up will get N.dollars 5 000 with 20 silver medals while the semi-final losers will each pocket N.dollars 2 500.
Tjonga added that there will be entertaining matches that will see former netball and soccer players in action before the finals on Sunday.
This is aimed at keeping the crowd busy while waiting for the finals, he noted.
