OSHAKATI, 10 FEB (NAMPA) – Minister of Youth, Sport and National Service, Erastus Uutoni has called on corporate companies to come on board with sponsorships for the sport exposition (expo) slated for September this year in Windhoek.
Uutoni made the call at Oshakati in the Oshana Region whilst receiving a sponsorship of N.dollars 50 000 from Ali Dharani of the Rani Group of companies on Saturday.
He also urged sport fans and youth entrepreneurs to buy stands at the expo.
Uutoni said the expo is endorsed by Cabinet as a national event and will serve as a platform where stakeholders come together to deliberate on the challenges facing the sport sector in the country.
“Come up with an idea that we can put in action and implement in the interest of the nation,” Uutoni urged, adding that job opportunities for unemployed youth would be created through sport once all stakeholders are organised and work together.
According to the minister, the main purpose of the envisaged sport expo is to unite men and women in the sport sector.
Uutoni thanked the Rani Group of Companies for its financial support while Dharani, the Rani Group of Companies director noted that his company is ploughing back to the community by supporting the expo.
“My business partners agreed for us to fund the sport expo as a way to empower the youth where we can, as they are our future,” said Dharani.
Mayor of Oshakati Angelus Iiyambo, the town’s chief executive officer Werner Iita and representatives of youth and sport organisations attended the sponsorship handover event.
