KASU Valentine’s Cup attracts many teams

WINDHOEK, 07 FEB (NAMPA) – The fifth edition of the Katutura Sport Union (KASU) Valentine’s Cup will be held at the Sam Nujoma and Khomasdal stadiums on Saturday.
The competition, which has so far attracted 32 football and 23 netball teams, will offer a total prize of N.dollars 30 000 for the victorious teams.
KASU chairperson Kuveri Tjonga told Nampa on Wednesday that the knock-out competition will see the victors in the netball category taking home N.dollars 10 000 with 12 gold medals and a trophy, while the winners of the soccer competition will walk away with N.dollars 20 000, 20 gold medals and a trophy.
In the netball competition, the losing semi-finalists will each walk away with N.dollars 1 250, while their counterparts in the football competition will each receive N.dollars 2 500.
The runners-up for the netball and football will walk away with N.dollars 2 500 and N.dollars 5 000 respectively.
The football group stage matches will start at 07h00 at Sam Nujoma Stadium and will end at 22h00, with additional matches scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Ella du Plessis High School stadium.
The group stage netball matches, meanwhile, are scheduled to start at 09h00 at the Khomasdal Stadium and will end at 19h00.
The final matches of both the netball and football competitions will be held at the Khomasdal Stadium on 16 February 2019.
“I am appealing to all teams participating to respect time and urge them to maintain cooperation throughout the competition,” said Tjonga.
