Second suspect in alleged graveyard rape case aprehended in Mariental

REHOBOTH, 06 FEB (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Mariental on Tuesday arrested the second suspect in an alleged rape case of a 34-year-old woman in Mariental.
NamPol’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay confirmed to Nampa that the 37-year-old man who was at large, is now arrested.
His accomplice, Hendrick Le Roux who was arrested on Saturday, appeared in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where he was denied bail.
His case was postponed to 09 April for legal aid application and laboratory results to be obtained.
It is alleged that the woman reported that she was drinking tombo at a certain house in Aimablaagte and later when she left, two men who were at the same place followed her in the direction of the graveyard and overpowered and raped her.
Police investigations continue.
