WINDHOEK, 05 FEB (NAMPA) – Namibia’s international playmaker Petrus Shitembi has finally penned a six-month deal with Lusaka Dynamos, a premier league club in Zambia.
The deal comes after Shitembi has been without a club since the end of the 2017/18 Namibia Premier League (NPL) season in May.
The Namibian dribbling wizard has in the past played in South Africa and Ghana before donning the colours of Tura Magic in the NPL.
Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, Shitembi said he got a few offers prior to the one he just signed, which he believes is the best offer.
“Joining Lusaka Dynamos will help me get my place back in the national squad as I do not want to be without a club and then miss out in representing my country at the biggest continental showpiece we are on the verge of qualifying for,” the left-footed playmaker explained.
The footballer who has won a Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup with Namibia and also reached the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship (Chan) said the Zambian league is competitive and will help him grow as an individual.
“My ambition of playing football at the top level still remains the same. I am happy that I managed to sign a contract which is for six months and perfect for me as I am looking forward to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations,” Shitembi said.
