REHOBOTH, 05 FEB (NAMPA) – The case of a 50-year-old woman arrested on 20 October for the alleged murder of her 60-year-old boyfriend, was again postponed when she made her fifth appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The accused, Julia Ausiku, appeared before Magistrate Desmond Beukes, who postponed the case to 19 February 2019 for further police investigations.
It is alleged that Ausiku stabbed the deceased, Malisiu Vatileni, in the chest with a kitchen knife. He died in bed, where his body was discovered on 20 October.
It is unknown when exactly the incident took place and what led to the stabbing.
It is also suspected that both the deceased and the accused were under the influence of alcohol the night before the victim’s body was found.
The incident occurred at Farm Platsand, 38 kilometres north of Rehoboth.
Public prosecutor Zibiho Munenze represented the State in the matter while the accused is represented by Christopher Stanley.
Ausiku was again denied bail and is being detained at the Rehoboth Police Station holding cells.
