WINDHOEK, 04 FEB (NAMPA) A 34-year-old soldier was arrested on Saturday at Ohalushu village in the Ohangwena Region, after he allegedly shot a 22-year-old woman with a 9mm CZ Browning pistol over N.dollars 30.
The Namibian Police in its crime report on Monday explained that the incident happened around 09h00, when the two allegedly argued over the money the victim reportedly borrowed from someone else using the soldiers name.
The victim was shot in the leg and abdomen and is admitted at Engela District Hospital in stable condition.
The soldiers licensed firearm was confiscated.
In a separate incident, a two-month-old baby was on Friday found dead by her mother at Tallismanus in the Otjombinde Constituency of the Omaheke Region, at around 23h00.
It is alleged that the mother returned from a shebeen and went with the baby to sleep at her boyfriends house, and found the babys lifeless body the next morning.
Police investigation in the matter continues.
Elsewhere, Rene Vermeulen, 36, was found dead with an electrical cord in her hand on Saturday, alongside the swimming pool of Farm Betta at Maltahöhe in the Hardap Region.
The police suspect that the deceased, who was found at around 17h35, was electrocuted while cleaning the swimming pool and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Her next of kin were informed and police investigations continue.
In another incident, Rayno Rooi, 24, was stabbed multiple times on the chest at Keetmanshoop around 02h45 on Friday.
It is alleged that the victim was involved in a gang fight.

Further, two learners aged 22 and 25 were on Friday allegedly stabbed by a 23-year-old man with an Okapi knife near Elao Bar at Okongo in the Ohangwena Region, at around 15h30.
According to the statement, the 25-year-old, who is a Grade 12 learner at Oshela Senior Secondary School, is in critical condition at Oshakati State Hospital while the 22-year-old is in a stable condition in Okongo State Hospital.
The suspect was arrested and set to appear in court on Monday.
