REHOBOTH, 04 FEB (NAMPA) – A 26-year-old man was arrested on Friday at Ou Drew Bar in Block E’s Blikkiesdorp informal settlement in Rehoboth for the alleged attempted murder of a 22-year-old man.
The Namibian Police Force's crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay, told Nampa on Sunday that it is alleged that the 26-year-old suspect stabbed a 22-year-old victim with a knife in the stomach, causing serious injuries.
The victim was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital and later transferred to the Katutura State Hospital in Windhoek in a serious condition, he said.
The suspect, who cannot be named as he is yet to appear in court, was arrested and the police investigations continue.
In an unrelated incident, the body of a 36-year-old woman was found with an electric cord in her right hand at the pool of a camping site at Farm Betta in Hardap Region.
Clay said that the body was found at about 17h35 on Saturday.
“It is suspected at this moment that she was electrocuted while cleaning the swimming pool. The body was transported and a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” he said.
The deceased was identified as Renè Vermeulen.
Her next of kin have been informed of her death and investigations continue.
