Ncancana village murder accused denied bail

RUNDU, 31 JAN (NAMPA) – A 29–year-old man arrested for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old pregnant woman to death at Ncancana village in the Kavango West Region on Tuesday, was denied bail during his first court appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The accused, Tadeus Morosi Ndonga, appeared before Magistrate Barry Mufana on a charge of murder.
It is alleged that Ndonga stabbed the deceased, Annastacia Ihemba, with a knife on her left side of her breast when he interfered in a conversation between the deceased and her husband at a sheeben in the morning hours of Tuesday.
After the stabbing, the accused than fled the scene, only to be arrested later when a man hunt was ordered on him.
The accused was told of his rights to either engage a privately instructed lawyer, apply for legal aid through the Ministry of Justice or to conduct his own defense.
His case was postponed to 13 March 2019 for him to apply for legal aid and for further police investigations.
Public Prosecutor, Helvi Garises, represented the State in the case.
