WINDHOEK, 30 JAN (NAMPA) – Representatives of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga to get his blessings for the year ahead.
The team, comprising among others of the academy’s trainer and promoter, Nestor Tobias as well as the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Featherweight champion, Jeremiah Nakathila, also a member of NamPol, expressed its lofty ambitions for the year, which include a prospective fight between Nakathila and American Ryan Garcia.
Tobias said he will be in talks with WBO to put Nakathila in the world elimination title fight with Garcia, which will make him the mandatory challenger for the world title, should he emerge victorious.
“I will be negotiating with the WBO to give him the elimination match where he is likely to face Ryan Garcia from the United State of America then the winner will be the mandatory challenger for the world title. He (Nakathila) is ranked number three in world and he is been there for a long time so it is time for him to move up,” explained Tobias.
Meanwhile, Ndeitunga said he always feel proud to see members of NamPol succeeding in the various sport platforms they participate in.
He advised Nakathila to be disciplined and follow in the footstep of countrymen and former (and current) world champions; Julius Indongo, Paulus Moses and Paulus Ambunda.
“I am proud of what you guys are doing. I feel proud when I see boxers from the police succeeding in all sports. Just remember that fighting for the world title is not something easy but it is possible,” he said.
