Deceased in Afrodite Beach car crash identified

SWAKOPMUND, 30 JAN (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Erongo Region has identified the deceased in a road crash at the Afrodite Beach area on the Swakopmund/Walvis Bay road on Saturday evening.
According to a NamPol report issued on Tuesday, the deceased was identified as 42-year-old Selso Jose Viveiros, a resident of Swakopmund.
Viveiros, who was alone in his pick-up truck at the time of the accident, is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle, which then collided into an oncoming SUV after he managed to get it back on the road.
He was on his way to Walvis Bay from Swakopmund.
His next of kin have been informed.
Meanwhile in a separate incident, a 28-year-old man died of head injuries after he lost control of the motorbike he was riding on Tuesday evening.
According to the report, the deceased, identified as Elgrego Wayne Swartz, was test riding the motorbike with the intention to buy it from its original owner at the Ocean View Residential area in Swakopmund at around 21h15.
“The deceased who travelled from Walvis Bay, then took the bike for a test drive, while wearing no helmet or protective headgear and lost control of the motorbike which crashed into the boundary wall of a house nearby,” the report added.
The deceased sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.
His next of kin were informed of his death and police investigations continue.
