Pregnant woman stabbed to death at Ncancana village

KAHENGE, 30 JAN (NAMPA) A 25-year-old pregnant woman died after she was allegedly stabbed by a 29-year-old man at Ncancana village in the Kavango West Region on Tuesday.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango West Region, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Mbumba told Nampa on Wednesday that the incident happened at a sheeben at around 02h00.
It is alleged that the deceased was busy talking to her husband in order for them to go home when the suspect approached them and started to interfere in their conversation, resulting in an argument, before the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the deceased on the left side of her breast and fled the scene.
The suspect was however arrested after being tracked down by the police with the help of the members of the public, Mbumba explained.
The decease has been identified as Annastacia Ihemba, a residence of Ncancana, and her next of kin have been informed.
The suspect, who is a resident of Kakuhu village in the same region is now being detained at the Kahenge Police Station and he is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate Court on Thursday.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
