Mariental murder case postponed to March for plea

REHOBOTH, 29 JAN (NAMPA) – A man arrested for the alleged murder of 51-year-old Willem Johannes Pieters in Mariental on 25 July 2018, made his fourth appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Patrick Skrywer, 57, appeared before Magistrate Vincent Nzaca, who postponed the matter to 07 March 2019 for plea.
It is alleged that Skrywer stabbed Pieters in his throat in Mariental’s Ombili informal settlement.
Pieters succumbed to his injuries on 26 July in the Mariental State Hospital, where he was rushed to soon after the incident.
Public Prosecutor Loide Nghixulifwa represented the State in the matter.
Skrywer remains in custody at the Mariental Police holding cells.
