REHOBOTH, 27 JAN (NAMPA) – A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the early hours of Saturday in Gibeon by a man known to her who broke into her one-bedroom zinc house.
Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Saturday that the incident happened at Helena Pieters Section in the village.
“It is alleged the victim was fast asleep in her zinc house with her 5-year-old son. She was woken up by a noise of her door being forced open by the suspect whom she knows and recognised,” Clay said.
He said the suspect, after entering the room, locked the door from inside and told the victim to behave and do as he says otherwise he will kill her.
“He then ordered the victim to remove her clothes, which she refused. He hit her in the stomach and left rib with fists and instructed her to lie down. He then allegedly undressed her and himself before forcefully sexually assaulting her,” Clay said.
It is reported that as the victim screamed for help her son woke up and witnessed the act.
The suspect is known but still at large.
Police have opened a case of rape against the suspect.
