WINDHOEK, 24 JAN (NAMPA) – Middleweight boxer Lukas ‘The Demolisher’ Ndafoluma will step into the ring against Rams Ilunga of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in a non-title fight in Cape Town, South Africa on Friday.
Ndafoluma left for South Africa on Wednesday with his trainer Tobias Nashilongo from Salute Boxing Academy to prepare for the eight-round bout set to start at 18h00.
The boxing academy’s general manager, Armas Shivute told Nampa on Thursday the fight is aimed at keeping Ndafoluma fit and improving his record.
“We want to improve his world ranking to get him closer to the world title,” said Shivute.
Ndafoluma made his boxing debut in July 2011 against Steven Shimbonde, and he currently has 16 fights under his belt, winning 15 fights (five via knockouts) and losing one.
His opponent Ilunga, who resides in South Africa, made his boxing debut in May 2011. He has four fights under his belt, with two wins and two losses.
The fight is promoted by Kalakoda Promotions in Cape Town. The two boxing stables signed a three-year promotion agreement last year that will see boxers from Salute Boxing Academy fighting under the South African stable.
Ndafoluma and his trainer are expected back in the country on Saturday.
